PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports
What is PBIS?
PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture and needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success.
There are three tiers of support for students: Tier I, Tier 2, & Tier 3.
Ways PBIS is visible in our school:
- Student of the Month (K-6)
- Principal's 100 Club
- Terrific Tigers
More information about Tiers
Tier I - All students begin in Tier I where they are rewarded for positive behavior through low and high frequency rewards. Behaviors are monitored daily by classroom teachers.
Tier II - Students who have received 4 ISD and 2 out of school suspensions will qualify for Tier II. A behavior plan will be written for the student and will be implemented by the student and his/her teachers. This plan will be enforced for a minimum of 8 weeks before being referred to Tier III or being moved back into Tier I.
*If a student shows success for four weeks in Tier 2 by following and successfully completing his/her behavior plan, he/she can be moved back into Tier I.
Tier III - Students who have received 6 ISD and 3 out of school suspensions OR students who remain in Tier II for an extended period of time without improvement, will qualify for Tier III.
**Students are not exempt from discipline referrals when given a Tier II or Tier III behavior plan.
***Principal discretion can be used when referring students for all Tiers. If a student causes harm to him/herself or others, he/she will automatically be referred for Tier III.
